Be Content

I am currently on my Easter holidays and I have a few weeks off. I usually find myself worrying about doing enough, usually trying to see enough people and make sure I’m being social enough. I also have 2 young girls to entertain.

Enough?

Who decides what is enough? I think with the pressures of the modern world we feel like we have to be on constant “go” all the time. Things have to be convenient and we have to keep up with everyone. It never seems to be enough. Do we decide this for ourselves or is it society? Society may influence the way we behave but, what happens to our mental health if we are always looking on the outside to what would be considered good enough? Should we be so highly influenced by others that we are forgetting our own beliefs and values? Recently I’ve been feeling more content in not trying to do too much and that’s okay. It’s enough for me because I’m not anxiously pressuring myself

What makes you Happy?

I am happiest when I’m with a few close friends and mostly when I’m with my family. Overtime I have become less of a people pleaser and more involved in my own life. I have drifted apart from people and stopped going to things that no longer serve me. I do not feel like I’m missing out because it feels right and it feels comfortable. It’s important to be rid of that guilt of doing what’s best for you and what makes you happy.

Stay True to You

It’s okay to just be you. Remember what you value in your life and leave behind what does not add value. It does not matter what others are doing. We are all different and lead different lives. Some people like go meet up all day everyday whereas some don’t at all. Of course, I enjoy the company of friends but I don’t always feel like meeting up as there’s time I want spent in my own company or with my daughter’s.

Yes, step out of your comfort zone from time to time but do it for yourself. Be Content with the life you wish to lead.
