It’s Okay

The past week has not been my best. Of course, we all have weeks, days, months or even years that may bring us down, but, I know that it’s okay to admit defeat. I believe that life is all about learning. It has taken me some time to grasp this concept as I was constantly beating myself up. We can try and aim for a fresh start the next day and with all good intentions and still end up having a bad day. Some things are just out of our control and other times we just need to improve our mindset.

I know that I have felt unmotivated and it is largely due to lack of sleep and feeling drained physically. It can have an effect on my mindset. I tried to gain some of the motivation back but the sleepless nights took over and I just did not have the energy for it. This can make you feel negative throughout the day and then it catches up with you the next day so you do not feel great then either. Instead of being too harsh on myself I just accepted that I’ve had a difficult few days. This is okay. No matter what anyone says or does we all have difficult times and days where we lack motivation. It’s great to say “let’s seize the day!” But, if you’re drained or unwell or just don’t feel up to it then don’t force it. That’s not to say that you should give in so quickly, by all means try and have a little positivity in your day. It’s okay, though, to not feel like you have to be super all the time. No one is super human (That I’m aware of).

In today’s society I feel the phrase “It’s okay to not be okay ” has really sunk in and people are a lot more honest and open. However, I still feel like some do not want to come across a certain way because they feel they are weak. Social Media does not help with this; everyone is so great all the time, there are no flaws (This is me being sarcastic and how it can often be perceived). It’s okay to admit that your day is just not going how you wanted.

This past week has provided me with some learning and this is a positive I can take from it. I have reflected. We can learn all the time from our experiences and this is what we should remember. You do not have to have an amazing day everyday, but try and see the light somewhere in it.

I chose this image as it represents a clear day, a fresh perspective. You can dive right in.
