We all need a confidence boost, particularly if we struggle with it daily. What has helped me is being able to have something to work on that makes me feel good such as learning something new.
I would sometimes put too much pressure on myself to learn something extravagant. Whilst it’s good to aim high, I find it is better to take small steps instead of trying the big stuff all in one go. Some might find this more appealing so whatever works for you! For example; I really enjoy learning new recipies, once I have learnt one I feel confident to use it a few times until I can add my own twist or take on another one. It can be as simple as that. I also feel that once I have learnt it I feel like I’ve made an achievement even if it seems small.
Now that I am in my 30s I feel more keen than ever to learn new things. When I was younger I did not have the same enthusiasm. It was my issues with self esteem and confidence that was holding me back. I had a lot of social anxiety and felt reluctant to learn due to worrying about failure.
I think we can all learn something daily. This can be a fun fact or seeing a piece of history. I believe that if we think about what we enjoy doing or are curious about learning more then it can go a long way. It can be inspiring to have something to work towards and we also learn along the way. The trick is to not put on lots of pressure. Making mistakes is a part of life and, after all, that’s how we learn. The more mistakes we make when we are willing to try, the better we feel once we have achieved it.
Try something new today. Learn a recipe, do a sporting activity, whatever will help your mind.
