I feel like we sometimes do not know that we are still on the journey of self discovery. I have tried so many times to boost my self confidence and self esteem as well as general self improvement. This means that I haven’t always stopped to pause and see how far that I have come. I have sometimes given myself a hard time due to “lack of progress” when, in fact, the progress was greater than I thought.
I feel that we live in quite a fast paced world. Things are often so convenient that it’s what we expect. Everyone seems to be in competition with each other. We are always over filling our minds because if we are not doing something then we are not worthy. But, who decides this? What is it that you want to do with your life?
For me, I have found out more about myself recently than what I had previously thought years ago. I am guarded with tools to help me which I feel is important in understanding myself better. I thought I did understand myself; how could you not know yourself when you are with you 24/7? It seems to not make sense but this is what the journey of self discovery is. I am not quite sure when it ends, if it does. I just know that I am discovering more about myself when I actually have quiet moments. I very rarely have these quiet moments so I make sure that I add it to my routine. I have found meditation very helpful in calming down my mind and body. I have also looked at the trend in my notes and tried to make certain items a habit. I feel once we start listening to helpful advice and actually stick to it then we can truly key into ourselves.
Some may not agree but I do think that life is a journey. I feel that in order to find out more about ourselves we first need to look at what is helpful and unhelpful and then change and create new habits. This is difficult to do but I feel this is the beauty of life. Life is all about embracing, discovering and learning. We may not always feel like we want to learn, but, in our darkest moments this is when we can build up that strength again and climb our mountain.
I hope that you are understanding yourself more and discovering what sort of mountain you are willing to climb.
